Letztes Wochenende bei Zitron - Last weekend at Zitron's

So, nachdem mein Ersatzrechner jetzt ziemlich komplett aufgebaut ist, kann ich endlich wieder Beiträge schreiben!
Das wichtigste Ereignis der letzten Wochen war das große Zitron-Event am 02./03. Juni.
Mehr als 60 Zitron-Einzelhändler waren angereist von nah und fern, um vom Meister persönlich eine Menge über Wolle, Qualität, umweltschonende Verarbeitung etc. zu erfahren - und um einen Swing-Stricken Schnupperkurs zu machen.

The most important event within the last weeks was the Meeting at Zitron's on June 2nd and 3rd.
More than 60 Zitron retail sellers have come from near and far to elarn a lot about wool and quality and environmentally friendly proceding and and and .... and to do a Swing-Knitting Taster Course.

Vom Swing-Stricken Schnupperkurs gibt es schon einige tolle Ergebnisse in unserer Ravelry-Gruppe zu sehen (http://www.ravelry.com/groups/knitting-the-swing---swing-knitting) - vielen Dank an Hille (Hildegard Bomheuer), ohne deren Hilfe ich insgesamt 4 Gruppen mit jeweils 15-18 Teilnehmerinnen nicht geschafft hätte! So können wir nicht ganz ohne Stolz behaupten, dass jeder unserer Kursteilnehmer das Prinzip des Swing-Strickens mit verkürzten Reihen verstanden hat --- und dass einige vom Swing-Virus infiziert sind! Und andere können Ihren Kunden qualifiziert erklären, worum es beim Swing-Stricken geht und sicherlich auch die eine oder andere Frage kompetent beantworten.
Danke an euch Teilnehmer/Innen, es hat einen Riesenspaß gemacht!

In our Ravelry group you can adore the first ready made results of these taster courses - Thank you so much to Hille (Hildegard Bomheuer) for her help! Without her I would not have managed to do 4 courses a 15-18 participants each! And now we can say (with a little pride :)) that every course participant has caught the idea of Swing-Knitting short rows ---- and some of them got infected with the Swing-Virus :)! Others can explain to their customers what's Swing-Knitting about and they can certainly answer some questions competently.
Thank you to my participants, it was a lot of fun working with you!

Und dann erklärte der Chef selbst, was es denn so mit Wolle auf sich hat:
Anhand eines Quizzes wurden die verschiedenen von Atelier Zitron verwendeten Rohgarne vorgestellt, und jeder konnte Merino extrafine, Royal Alpaka, Baby-Kamelhaar, Seide, Bambus und Co ausgiebig beflauschen. Und die meisten konnten auch das Garn identifizieren, das von Atelier Zitron nicht verwendet wird - ein Rohgarn für Sockenwolle eines anderen Herstellers, das durch deutliche Kratzigkeit auffiel :).
Wolle ist halt nicht Wolle - und die Micronzahl des Einzelfadens (Fadendicke in 1/1000 mm) beschreibt die Weichheit und Qualität des Garns halt besser als irgendwelche Fantasiebeschreibungen :). Und das gesunde Wolle nur von gesunden und artgerecht gehaltenen Schafen kommen kann, das weiß jeder Tierbesitzer!
Bei Zitron finden alle Verarbeitungsschritte in Deutschland statt und halten sich streng an deutsche Umweltauflagen. Alle Färbungen erfolgen nach Öko-Text Standard 100, Produktklasse 1 - ein Säugling kann bedenkenlos an allen gefärbten Garnen nuckeln, auch an rot und schwarz!

Dann wurden noch neue Qualitäten vorgestellt, die so weit in der Entwicklung sind, dass sie im Laufe diesen Jahres noch erscheinen werden - Leute, da kommt ein Seidengarn, schmelz!!!!!!!!!!!
Viele Teilnehmerinnen fuhren denn auch wesentlich später nach Hause, als sie gedacht hatten - die Themen rund um Wolle sind einfach zu spannend!

Klemens Citron himself expained a LOT about wool.
The participants did a quizz, and he explained the kind of raw yarn Atelier Zitron uses: Royal Alpaca, baby camel, silk, real bamboo and co --- we all could touch and cuddle these yarns. Most of the participants were able to identify the one raw yarn that is not used by Atelier Zitron - a wool for sock yarn of an other producer that feeled scratchy :).
Wool isn't just wool - the thickness of the single fiber is measured in micron (1/1000 mm), and this specifications describes the softness and quality of wool better than a lot of fantastic terms! And healthy wool can only be produced by healthy and appropriately held animals - every pet owner knows that!
All Zitron yarns are completely produced  in Germany, according to German environmental protection laws. All dying is done according to Oeko Tex 100 Product Class 1 - a baby can suckle the dyied  wool without ny danger, ven black and red yarn!


We could glimpse and feel the new qualities in stages of development. There will be some more newbies this yea r - and there will be a devine new pure silk yarn! 
A lot of participants came home some hours later then they had planned - the themes around wool are just too thrilling!
All yarns from Atelier Zitron are premium qualities from Germany.
Dyeing is carried out in accordance with Oeko Tex Standard 100, Product Class 1.
