Neue Nadeln, neues Muster - New needles, new pattern

I have wondered quite a time how this pretty braided trim is knitted. And yesterday my new Prym knitting needles arrived. So I really HAD to try them, don't you think so as well :)? This was a really good reason not to work on on my book keeping, wasn't it?

First about the new Prym Ergonomics:
I bought them at Jawolle, they seem to be the first who offer them in Germany.
The package is quite elaborate, but I hardly gave it a second glance.

They look quite crazy, these triangular needles with a drop instead of a tip ...

First I was quite afraid to grip them, the very thin plastic is nearly weightless, and the needles are quite elastic.
The queer tip astonished me - it knits like a sharp tip! You don't stick it through the yarn, after a short time of getting used to them they feel "normal".

I noticed that I knit a bit more loosely than with "notmal" 3.5 mm needles - maybe the reason is that I still don't grip them as hard as my my normal needles :)?

Then I searched for a tutorial how to knit the braided trim ... on Ravelry and on Youtube.

I looked at quite a lot of free patterns and videos before I started.

The links above show the ones I liked best.

The short English explanation of Natalia Moreva I liked best:

I asked Natalia by Ravelry PM for her permission to translate her tutorial to German and to make it a bit more detailed with more step photos, for the German Facebook group "Beginners Fair-Isle" - and after she had given me her permission I started to work on it.

In our Facebook group, the German version of the Braided Trim is already available in the "data". Natalia will upload the German version to her original free pattern today.

What will the Braided Trim start become?
My kobold Lucky already waits for a long time for his sweater, and the dragon pattern he chose himself, it is a chart of the  Mystery Kal "Heroes of Yarnia".
