Koffer 1 ...... Suitcase No1 ........

Plan heute: Den Workshopkoffer packen!
Da es immer noch günstiger ist, die Workshops hier drucken zu lassen und mit 2. Koffer mit Übergepäck mitzunehmen, als die Workshops in den USA drucken zu lassen, habe ich mir einen wunderschönen stabilen Koffer geliehen und den heute schon mal gepackt.

My plan for today: packing the Workshop suitcase!
Even if you pay for a second piece of overweight luggage, it's cheaper to print the Workshop books in Germany. So I borrowed a beautiful robust suitcase and started to pack this one today.

 Das hiess dann erst einmal: 50 Workshop-Bücher auspacken und neu zusammenpacken, ohne Zwischenblätter und 20 Spring Plumage Bücher auspacken und neu zusammenpacken.

This meant: Unpacking and repacking 50 Workshop booklets and 20 Spring Plumage booklets.

Alles drin, in 4 statt 7 Kartons!


Everything went into the suitcase, 4 instead of 7 boxes.

Das sind die gestrickten Swing-Knitting(TM) Workshops 1 bis 8, die müssen natürlich auch mit!

These are the knitted pieces of Swing-Knitting(TM) Workshops 1 to 8, they have to travel with me!

Brigitta hat mir solche Vakuum-Wundertüten geschenkt, in denen sich Klamotten ganz klein machen sollen - dies ist dann der Praxistest für die Teile.

Brigitta brought me those vacuum wonder bags - clothing will become very small in them, the ad says. This is the test of the bags!

Staubsauger geholt und angesetzt - und tatsächlich! Alles schrumpelt zusammen auf die Hälfte des Platzes!

So I fetched the vacuum cleaner, started it and - it works! The bags shrink to half their size!

Fast! Man muss die Verschlüsse der Tüten sehr schnell schließen, die ziehen sofort wieder Luft und werden größer.
Also nochmal Staubsauger holen und absaugen ... diesmal ging der Koffer ohne Probleme zu.

Nearly closed! You have to be very fast with closing the lids, or they will draw air and become big again.
So I fetched the vacuum cleaner again and drew out the air .... this time the suitcase could be closed without a problem.

Nächster Schritt: Waage aus dem Bad holen.
SCH******!!!!!!! Maximales Koffergewicht sind 32 kg!!!!

Next step: fetching the scales from the bathroom.
SH******!!!!!! Maximal weight of a suitcase is 32 Kilos!!!!

Koffer wieder auf. 1 Karton raus. Reicht nicht. So viele Einzelbücher aus den anderen Kartons raus, bis es 10 kg weniger sind - dann darf ich in die entstandene Lücke 2 kg packen ....


Opened the suitcase again and unpacked one box. Not enough. Took out single books until they make up 10 kilos - then I can pack about 2 kg into the gap ....

Das Kistchen muss dann wohl ins Handgepäck .....

This box has to fit into my hand luggage ....

Was pack ich in das Loch im Koffer? Wolle natürlich!!!!!
Also "mal eben" etwas Seide wickeln für eines meiner geplanten Projekte ....
MAL EBEN!!!!!!!!!
Morgen kommt Brigitta ...... die hat nämlich die Nerven für sowas, ICH NICHT!!!

What will I pack into the gap in the suitcase? Yarn of course!!!!!
So I "just quickly" started to wind some silk for one of my projects ....
JUST QUICKLY!!!!!!!
Tomorrow Brigitta will visit .... she has the nerves for such things, ME NOT!!!!

Okay, hab natürlich noch genug gefunden, womit ich die Lücke füllen konnte. 1700 g genau.
Die Seide muss dann ins Handgepäck.

Okay, I found enough to fill the gap - exactly 1700 g.
The silk will go into the hand luggage.

Staubsauger zum dritten Mal geholt, Luft neu aus den Tüten abgesaugt, Koffer wieder zu!

I fetched the vacuum cleaner for a third time, drew the air from the vacuum bags, suitcase No1 is closed!

Der Koffer hat den Waagentest bestanden: 31,5 Kilos!

Und ich bin nassgeschwitzt .... :)


The suitcase passed the scales test - 31.5 kilos!

And I am sweat soaked .... :)

Das ist auch schon im Koffer - Dienstkleidung :)!
