Swingy "Thanks Cat!" by Maylin

Ich hatte es doch vorgestern tatsächlich geschafft, einen Gutscheincode für Maylin’s neue Anleitung „Thanks Cat!“ zu erhaschen – ein wunderschöner Moebius-Cowl mit dreieckigem Zipfel!

I was one of the lucky ones to catch one of the gift codes Maylin offered in our Ravelry group for her new pattern “Thanks Cat!”. It is a beautiful Moebius cowl with a triangular end.

Samstag abend um 10 meinen Stash umgegraben, nach etwas Kuscheligem, aber nicht zu Warmen. Und so was von fündig geworden!!!!!! Die Noro Aya (50% Baumwolle, 35% Seide, 15% Wolle, 135 Meter/50 g)) als Strophengarn hat einen wunderschönen Farbverlauf und ist das einzige Norogarn, das absolut nicht kratzig ist (von denen, die ich schon unter den Fingern hatte). Und Sara de Luxe von Bremont (70% Baby Alpaka, 20% Seide, 10% Kaschmir, 88m/50 g) ist ein absoluter Kuscheltraum und ein tolles Pausengarn! Ganz wichtig: Von beiden Garnen hatte ich je zwei Knäuel :). 

Saturday night, 10 p.m. I dove into my stash looking for something cuddly but not too warm. And I found a wonderful combination! Noro Aya (50% cotton, 35% silk, 15% wool, 135m/50g) as stanza yarn has a beautiful color flow, and it’s the only Noro I do know that is not the least scratchy! Sara de Luxe by Bremont (70% baby alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere, 88m/50g) is a cuddly dream and matches perfectly as pause yarn! Something very important: I had two balls of each :)!

Ein Stündchen auf dem Pattern rumgekaut, um die Konstruktion so gut zu verstehen, dass ich sie direkt swingen kann, und natürlich direkt mögliche Umsetzungen geprüft und mir die Leitlinien für das Strickteil gesetzt:

• Die 3 Maschen, die am linken Rand jeweils stehen gelassen werden, sind knapp 60 helle Nadeln in 3er-Abständen über die gesamte Strickbreite (Zielnadeln, das kommt in dem Swing-Stricken™ Kursbaustein 8, an dem ich immer noch schreibe ….) – die letzte helle Nadel ist immer der „linke Rand“.
• Strickmelodie: 4 3 2 1 2 3 4/ 20 – diese Melodie habe ich nämlich gerade auf einer anderen Nadel, und durcheinander kommen will ich nicht.
• Pause: Doppelreihe glatt rechts, Doppelreihe glatt links, damit es von beiden Seiten schön aussieht. 
•  Jede Strophe wird von der ersten Pausen-Doppelreihe komplett überdeckt (das Strophenende ist die vorletzte helle Nadel), die zweite Pausen-Doppelreihe endet jeweils an der jetzt letzten hellen Nadel.
•  Swing-Konstruktion: Mehrere Strophen in einer Reihe, wer die Swing-Stricken Basics (Kursbausteine 1-3) und das Tricksen (Kursbaustein 5) gestrickt und verstanden hat, kann Maylin’s Pattern mit diesen Angaben problemlos selbst swing-stricken.

About an hour I meditated on the pattern to catch the construction so well that I could start swing-knitting™ the pattern at once. Some thoughts about the Swing composition, set a few rules for the Swing™ of the Moebius: 

• The 3 stitches that are repeatedly left unknitted on the left edge of the knitting, are about 60 light pins in distances of 3 stitches each over the whole knitting width of 180 stitches. They are target pins, which I will explain in Workshop 8, the one I’m still working on…. – the last light pin is always the “left edge”. 
• The knitting melody is: 4 3 2 1 2 3 4/ 20 – this is the melody of the knitting I’m already working on, and I don’t want to get confused. 
•  Pause: Double row of stockinette stitch plus a double row of reverse stockinette stitch – I want the cowl to look nice on both sides. 
•  Every stanza will be completely covered by the first double row of the pause pattern, so the stanza row ends at the second last light pin. The second double row of the pause ends at the now last light pin. 
• Swing construction: Several stanzas in a row. Those who have knitted and understood the Basics (Swing-Knitting™ Workshops 1-3) and the tricks (Swing-Knitting™Workshop 5) can work Maylin’s cowl now all on their own in Swing-Knitting™.

Eine Anleitung wird es dazu nämlich nicht geben wer das Swing-Stricken™ verstanden hat, kann das auch ohne!

There will definitely be no Swing-Knitting™ instructions on this cowl. Those who know how to do Swing-Knitting™, will be able to do it on their own!

Schlaf kam in der Nacht zum Sonntag dann etwas kurz :) – nach 2 Strophenreihen und Pausen bin ich dann aber doch ins Bett gegangen – ach, fühlte sich das gut an und gefiel mir auch optisch schon sehr gut!

There wasn’t a lot of sleep in the night from Saturday to Sunday :) - after 2 stanza rows I finally went to bed. The knitting felt so good and I enjoyed the looks of it!

Gestern dann meine Geburtstagsfeier (DANKE für die vielen lieben Glückwünsche!) – wer mich kennt, kennt mich strickend J, und somit brauchte ich dann heute „nur noch“ den Abschluss zu machen: Über alle Maschen die zweite Doppelreihe der letzten Pause und den I-Cord rundrum, und zwar nach der von Michaela (Lanarta) kürzlich in unserer Ravelry-Gruppe geteilten Anleitung von The Purl Bee (Danke!). Diese Form des I-Cords ist echt super, legt sich sogar rund um die am rechten Rand beim Farbwechsel hochgezogenen Fäden, und man spart die Grundreihe über alle Maschen mit der I-Cord-Farbe!

Yesterday, my Birthday Party (THANK YOU for all the lovely mails and good wishes!). Those who know me, they know me always knitting J, and so I nearly finished the cowl last night. Today it was “just” the finishing: the second double row of the last pause over all stitches, and an I-Cord edging all around. I made the I-Cord by the instruction of The Purl Bee, a link Michaela (Lanarta) shared in our Ravelry group (Thank you!). This way of doing the I-cord is really very nice, it even covers the right edge of the knitting where I carried the second yarn along. This I-Cord even saves the basic row over all stitches with the yarn for the I-Cord!

Heute dann zwischen Aufräumen, Spülmaschine be- und entladen und umpfzig Telefonaten über gefühlte 5000 Maschen den I-Cord gestrickt, immer schön mit Blick aus dem Fenster, dass ich nur ja fertig werde, bevor das Licht für Fotos zu schlecht ist.

Today, between tidying up my apartment, loading and unloading the dishwasher and having lots of phone calls, I made the I-Cord – it felt like 5000 stitches J. Always with a look to the window, I had to be finished before it got too dark for photos.

Gut, dass ich zwei Knäule je hatte: Von beiden Garnen habe ich je ca. 60g verbraucht!

I was glad having 2 balls of each yarn – it took me about 60g of each yarn to finish the cowl!

Der „Thanks Cat!“ Moebius vonMaylin ist echt ein tolles, praktisches Teilchen – und ich hab ihn nach meinen Selbstversuchen mit Fotos im Spiegel dann gleich angelassen :)!

The “Thanks Cat!“ Moebius by Maylin is a beautiful and versatile piece of knitting – even after my experiments of taking photos in the mirror were finished, I kept wearing it :)!
