Do you think my Mom will like this shawl for Christmas?
It is knitted with Atelier Zitron Wolkenspiel and Atelier Zitron Unisono, and this time I was quite disappointed by my favorite yarn manufacturer.
The first ball of Wolkenspiel I had for some time. It showed several shades of green and yellow, and emerald green and teal. So I decided to combine with the emerald Unisono.
For the ruffle around the lower edge of the shawl I needed another ball of yarn - this one did not only show the color arrangement very diffenrently, it also had a completely different color family! Instead of emerald, it showed olive, instead of teal it showed moss green!
I had to learn then that this is "normal" for "hand dyed yarn". I have knitted a lot of hand dyed yarns from professional hand dyers, from them I learned differently! Only another bit of anger about several plying mistakes in the second ball .... The differences don't show so much because of the ruffle. If they had shown, I'd have to frog the complete shawl and do it again!!!!!!
After the holidays I'll write a pattern for the shawl - for Swing-Knitters and for those who do not know Swing-Knitting (yet) :)!
