abdecken :).
Spray the shawl with water and pin it in form on a soft mat ..... and cover it with a plastic box against cuddly housemates :).
"The book says you can also weigh it down a bit, doesn't it?"
And such a cool and cosy place is perfect for this hot weather!

The reason for our journey to Southern Germany wasn't a happy one, Brigitta visited the burial service of a near friend of hers. On our journey back we rewarded ourselves with a very special highlight - we visited Drachenwolle (means Dragon Wool). She is not only an outstanding hand dyer (www.drachenwolle.com) but also an exceptional and wonderful woman!
Guckt euch einfach meine Eindrücke an und genießt!
Just look at my pictures and adore!

DANKE! Thank you!
THANK YOU for lots of kind and enthusiastic comments about SPRING PLUMAGE!
I had to send an update. It is not possible to upload the charts as jpgs in full size to the Ravelry databas. You can only upload PDF files. So I put all charts into a Picasa album "Spring Plumage PDF" and included the link to this album into the pattern files. Who already bought the pattern, has been sent an update notice by Ravelry, including the link to this album. Who will buy the pattern new, please downlad the file "Spring Plumage Charts.PDF" as well. The document contains the link to the Picasa album with the charts. You can download the charts in full size to enlargen it and view or print it in full size. Sorry for the detour, but I wanted to give you the possibility to get the charts even when this is not possible by Ravelry!

Spring Plumage online!
aus meinem Ravelry-Shop für 5,00 Euro / from my Ravelry shop for 5.00 €
…………………………………………..
Finally the instructions and the English translation are finished - here it is, my Spring Plumage!
“Spring Plumage“ is a long A-Line cardigan to fit over long tunics.
It is constructed with elements of Nadita’s DREAMBIRD, but it is an independent design.
The decorative feathers and the construction based on triangles were inspired by the DREAMBIRD, and if you already have done this beautiful shawl this will help you with my String Plumage.
I changed the feather element in a few places – The difference to the Dreambird will be explained in the instructions for the feather.
Knitting a cardigan is very different to knitting a shawl. Therefore I had to change the triangle parts of the DREAMBIRD completely. They are different for the different parts of the cardigan. The differences will be explained in the individual sections.
The cardigan will be knitted in one part seamlessly. Even the sleeves are directly added without a seam. There is only one grafted seam which closes each sleeve with Kitchener Stitch.
The pattern instructions are made for yarn with a gauge of 18 stitches/ 18 double rows for 10 x 10 cm (4x4 in) in garter stitch.
You can easily use different yarns with a different gauge. You can try on the Spring Plumage with every step of the instruction, so you can easily see which size you’ll have to follow to make the plumage fit your size.
Spring Plumage has a kind of raglan design and a swinging A-line shape. This makes the cardigan very adaptable to your body shape. My cardigan size L fits perfectly in the shoulder from size 38 to 48 (US 8 to 18). The various sizes differ only in how much the front sections overlap: with the smaller sizes they overlap a lot, with the larger ones they build a type of V-neck.
The pattern includes 3 types of explanations:
schematics,
charts for each part that can be downloaded as single files,
written explanation.
My warmest THANK YOU to all who helped me getting this pattern instruction completed!
Nadita for her beautiful DREAMBIRD as inspiration for the cardigan
Baba for corrections, test knitting and most valuable help in drawing and correcting the charts
Silvia, Ines and Christa for corrections and test knitting
Eva for her warm and positively critical way of correcting my German language
Orla for her help with the English translation.

Kavaliersdelikt – Peccadillo?
Why I did
not write anything for a few days?
Because I
first had to calm down a bit to tell you some news without swearing or trading
insults ….. just to avoid a libel action in addition …..
What’s it
about? Audacity, impudence, impertinence, fathomless infamy …
Folgendes
ist passiert:
This is
what happened:
1. I received
the newsletter of a well-known Scandinavian wool business showing their (?) newest
designs and inviting to vote on those designs to decide which of them should be
published as free patterns in Autumn/Winter 2013. One of the designs looked
very much like Maylin’s Wingspan, this I wrote as comment in a questioning way.
A little later my comment was gone …. Since then no one can add a comment
including “Maylin” or “Wingspan” or “Copyright”, you get a feedback that you
have used a forbidden word in your comment ….. Maylin is working on this – and a
few different other matters – more about this you can find here http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/tricoterie/2492642/101-125?jump=110#110
And on her
Pinterest-Board: http://pinterest.com/dihenydd/wingspan-rip-offs/
Isn’t it
poor being not able just to mention the author of a free pattern?
2. Brigitte
Elliott (Swing-Knitting™ in the US) showed me a website where someone offers
Swing-Knitting™ classes – it is a woman who just made a Taster Class (!!!!!),
and her offer includes Brigitte’s original photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her
lawyer is already active …….
3. I really
like to answer questions and help people who have a knot in the brain or a question
about the Swing-Knitting™ Workshops, most of you know this! BUT - those who
need the most effort are often people who even did not buy the workshops!!!!!
Asking questions that have been answered in an update more than a year ago ….
If you did not buy the workshops, you won’t get the Ravelry updates …..
It’s a bit
queer – statistically every buyer does about 5 downloads of the patterns –
sounds like every single one of them has 5 computers and saves a copy of a
workshop or a pattern on every one???????
I really
loves these exclusive e-mails or PMs without addressing me or giving a
greeting, sounding like “what means applying the melody width?” – I really need
those very polite people who are not willing to even say Thank you if I give
them a personal explanation about things that I only described thrice in the
pattern!!!
But my very
special friends are those who insult me and become rude when I write them after
the x-th e-mail, that I won’t coach them any longer through the pattern because
they even did not buy it! You can see it very easily whether someone bought a
pattern, and pattern gifts are in the personal library as well. Excuse me,
sometimes I am really fed up!
besser verstehen, warum du gegen unseren Knit-Along bist.“
4. Nadita
found a shop website by chance – on this page she introduces herself as
designer, talks about her artist's backgorund and recommends the shop owners hand dyed yarns for her Dreambird –
without Nadita knowing about this and asking her beforehand!!!! The shop owner
hadn’t even bought the Dreambird pattern!!! With her best effort, Nadita politely asked
her to remove this page and the class offer, she received this answer:
“No. I have
not purchased the pattern yet. One of my employees has, and has started the
project. I am waiting for the yarn to come in before I start the project
myself.
I am
confused. If you do not want people to purchase the pattern and knit the
project (which I think is a great compliment to your art and a confirmation of
its beauty) why is it available on Ravelry?
My
intention was to honor your art and let other people know about it. The
biographical information was put there to give people some background as to who
you are, what has influenced your design and give depth to the Dreambird
project.
I will take
it off the site immediately, but would like to understand better your objection
to our doing a knit-along.”
runtergeladen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Die Login-Daten zum
Download werden über Foren verteilt ….
5. Irina made
a wonderful translation of Swing-Knitting™ Workshop 1, she invested a lot of
time and effort in it. Before I published the Russian version of the workshop,
I first waited a bit to watch Nadita’s experiences with her Russian version of
the Dreambird. That’s her record: The pattern was sold 8 times and downloaded
9000 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The login data to download the pattern
are published on several bulletin boards ….
I have
decided NOT to publish the Russian translation – may those who treat designers
and designs this way, may at least have the work of doing their own
translations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very sorry to affect honest
knitters as well.
Please don’t
misunderstand me: There are lots and lots of honest and fair-minded knitters all
around the world!! One way they show their appreciation of our work is by
buying our patterns and tutorials and keeping the copyright laws. And I promise
trying to make the best I can do for these, to write good and understandable instructions and help them
making beautiful knits.
But let me
dream about those who get the instructions on rather queer ways: I wish them to
really fall on their “proverbial face”!!!! I dream about badly fitting and ugly
looking knits following unauthorized and wrong translations. I dream about
self-proclaimed instructors having lots of trouble with their students. I dream
about each ball of yarn that is used for such a project having at least 5
knots!!!!!!
