Gestern hatten wir großes Foto-Shooting der Buchprojekte  - DANKE an Petra Bu und Ralf B. Franke!!!!! Es hat einen Riesenspaß gemacht, und es sind tolle Fotos dabei entstanden!
Dieses Foto ist eines von Ralfs - er hat "nebenbei" auch noch einige künstlerische Fotos für seinen Foto-Stream geschossen :).
Ich zeige euch mal ein paar meiner Hintergrund-Schnappschüsse.

Yesterday we had a big photo-shooting of the book projects - THANK YOU to Petra Bu and Ralf B. Franke!!! It was so much fun, and there will be wonderful photos!
This is one of the photos he made - "by the way" he even managed to make some photos for his photo gallery.
I'll show you some of my background snapshots.

Und weil das Wetter schaurig war, konnten wir keine Tageslicht-Fotos machen. Mein Neuerwerb - ein Fotohintergrund-System

The weather was horrible - so we had to take the photos indoor. This is what was added to my already large bunch of equipment - a background system for photos.

Wie macht man aus einem vorher schon total überfüllten Wohn-, Lebens- und Arbeitsraum ein Fotostudio? Umräumen bis zum Anschlag war angesagt .....

How to make a photo studio of an already overstuffed living and working place? Moving and rearranging everything was the theme .....

 Die Gartentür musste mit schwarzem Stoff abgehängt werden.

The door to the garden had to be covered in back cloth.

Davor dann das Hintergrundsystem.

In front of it came the background system.

Das Hintergrundsystem dann noch auf Boxen gestellt, damit es bis zur Decke reichte.

The background system we had to put on boxes to make it high enough up to the ceiling.

Die Hunde mussten wir dann leider aussperren, die wollten auf jedes Foto mit drauf.

The dogs we had to shut out - they wanted to be on every photo.

Licht - und noch mehr Licht und noch mehr Licht - trotz Energiesparlampen wurde es hübsch warm!

Light - and more light - and even more light - in spite of energy saving bulbs it got pretty hot!

Die Katzen konnten wir nicht aussperren - die fanden all das Gestrickte total spannend!

The cats we couldn't shut out - they really enjoyed all these knitted things :)!

Vom Kratzbaum ganz oben hatte man bestimmt die beste Aussicht.

The highest part of the cat tree offered the best view.

Puh, das war anstrengend, aber richtig super!

Pooh, this was exhausting, but it was real fun!


Nächsten Samstag haben wir dann Teil 2 des Foto-Shootings - drückt mal die Daumen, dass wir dann nach draußen gehen können und ich nicht wieder die ganze Bude auf den Kopf stellen muss :)!

Next Saturday we'll have part 2 of the photo shooting. Please keep your fingers crossed that we can take the next series outdoors and I won't have to put my apartment upside down again :)!

Dagmar's Spring Plumage

Heute zeige ich euch ein ganz besonderes Exemplar der Spring Plumage Jacke. Dagmar (dagomar auf Ravelry) hatte noch nie vorher eine Jacke oder einen Pullover gestrickt und hat sich super durch die Anleitung gekämpft! Großer Applaus für Dagmar!!!
Dagmar kannte viele der in dieser Jacke verwendeten technischen Tricks vorher nicht - wenn jemand sich so viel Mühe gibt und so viel Einsatz zeigt, da helfe ich gern!
Die Jacke ist wunderschön geworden - und sie steht ihr perfekt!
Die Genehmigung, diese Jacke und ihre Fotos zu zeigen, und ihre Geschichte zu erzählen, hat mir Dagmar gegeben. Danke!

Today I'm allowed to show you a very special Spring Plumage cardigan. Dagmar (dagomar on Ravelry) never had knitted a cardigan or a jumper before, and she made her way through the instructions! Applause for Dagmar!!!!!
Dagmar didn't know a lot of the technical tricks used in this cardigan before - if someone shows such commitment and enthusiasm, I'm more than willing to help!
The cardigan has become gorgeous, and it fits her perfectly!

Vom 29.06. bis 05.07.2014 werde ich beim Nordic Knitting Symposium sein, als Lehrer für das Swing-Stricken!

Ca. 120 Teilnehmer aus der ganzen Welt werden erwartet, die Hälfte der Plätze ist eine Woche nach der Veröffentlichung des Programms schon weg!
Das Programm lohnt sich aber auch wirklich - hier könnt ihr es als PDF in Englisch herunterladen, hier ein kleiner Ausschnitt.

Swing-Knitting Live at the Nordic Knitting Symposium - from June 29 to July 5 I'll be there to teach classes!

There will be about 120 participants from all over the world. Half of the places are already booked just one week after publishing the program!

An zwei Tagen werde ich den
Schnupperkurs Swing-Stricken als Tageskurs anbieten - einer der Kurse ist schon ausgebucht!
Hier einige Beispiele, was man aus dem Probeläppchen machen kann.

This is what I will offer:
On two days, I'll teach the Swing-Knitting Taster Course as a one-day workshop. One of the classes is already sold out.
Let me show you some examples what to make of the swatch we'll knit there!

Einen weiterführenden Swing-Stricken-Kurs "Swing-Knitting - Beyond the Basics" mit Elementen des Nadeltanzes wird es als Tageskurs gegen Ende des Symposiums geben - auch der ist schon halb ausgebucht!

Auch hier werde ich ich detaillierte Hinweise geben, was man mit dem Probeläppchen Nettes machen kann :).

There will be an advanced class as well.  "Swing-Knitting - Beyond the Basics" will be a one-day class after the Taster Courses. You'll learn elements of the pin dance there - half of the places in this class are already booked.

You'll get detailed information how you can make your swatch into a bag, a top, .......

Das Top ist noch nicht fertig, ich warte auf Woll-Nachschub :) ......

Außerdem werde ich dort noch einen Vortrag zu verkürzten Reihen halten - worüber sonst :)?????

So ganz nebenbei - Just along the way

So ganz nebenbei stricke ich natürlich auch ein bisschen :)!
Aus den wunderschönen Wollerey-Garnen Schura (80% Schurwolle, 20% Ramie, 300m / 100g) entsteht gerade ein Loop aus dem Inhalt des Swing-Stricken Schnupperkurses. Das Garn strickt sich toll, gibt auch mit großer Nadel ein schönes Strickbild und hat einen wunderschönen Fall.
"So ganz nenbenbei" korrigiere ich dabei den englischen Schnupperkurs, in dem sich der Fehlerteufel ziemlich heftig eingenistet hatte ....... Den Schnupperkurs gibt es nur als Live-Kurs, zum Beispiel in Helmstedt - guckt einfach in die Events der Ravelry-Gruppe.

Just along the way I knit, of course :)!
With the beautiful yarns of Wollerey Schura (80% virgin wool, 20% ramie, 300m / 100g) I am knitting a loop with the swatch of the Swing-Knitting Taster Course. The yarn knits up wonderfully, the stitches are very even and distinct in spite of knitting with a large needle, and the knitting drapes beautifully. "Just along the way" I correct the English Taster Course tutorial, which still had lots of typo and meaning gremlins living in it ...... The Taster Course is only available as a live class, please look at the events in our Ravelry group.

Das ist ne Heidenarbeit! That's a bear of a job!

Mit der Überarbeitung des Theorieteils für's Buch bin ich jetzt (hoffentlich) fertig - das ist eine unheimlich zeitaufwendige und anstrengende Sache, alles zu überarbeiten und die Fotos einzeln zuzspeichern. Obwohl ich eigentlich ein ganz gutes Ordnungssystem auf dem Rechner habe - bei einigen der 301 (!!!!) Fotos habe ich heftigst suchen müssen :)!

 I have finally finished the revision of the theory part of my book. It costs an awful lot of time and energy and concentration to check everything and file the photos independently. I thought I had everything quite well organized on my computer - but some of the 301 (!!!!) photos I really had to search for:) ....

Diesen Freitag und nächste Woche Samstag sind dann noch Fototermine - bis dahin heisst es, weiter die über 30 Modelle zu überarbeiten: Korrekturen und Vorschläge meiner Teststrickerinnen einbringen, Aufbau der Anleitungen vereinheitlichen, Schemazeichnungen verschönern, Charts in höherer Auflösung neu speichern, mögliche Fotos zuordnen und gucken, welche ich noch benötige .....

Wenn ihr also in den nächsten Tagen und Wochen recht wenig von mir hört, bitte nicht wundern - ich hab schon viereckige Augen von der ganzen Rechnerarbeit und dann echt keine Lust, hier auch noch was zu schreiben :)!

Coming Friday and next week's Saturday there will be more photo sessions - up to then I want to be finished with working over all more than 30 pattern instructions .... That means: Correcting the mistakes my test knitters found, thinking and working on the recommendations they made, standardizing all instructions, making the schematics a bit more nice, saving the charts in higher resolution, assigning photos to each pattern, looking which photos I still need ......

Please understand if I won't write as much here as I normally do for the next days and weeks - I already have square eyes from all the work on the monitor, and then I really don't want to work on the computer any longer than I must :)!

Meine neue Kollage Nadel - My new Kollage Needle

 Diese Kollage Nadel in 3,5 mm 100 cm habe ich mir aus den USA mitgebracht. Es ist eine viereckige Metallnadel.mit einer schönen Spitze.
Hier unterziehe ich sie gerade dem Härtetest :) - knapp 900 Maschen liegen drauf, gut 300 g Gewicht hängen dran beim Endspurt meines Neptunia Tuches (Buchprojekt) aus Zitron Traumseide. Einer Holznadel kann ich das nicht zumuten, die bricht. Die Knitpro Karbonz ist Brigitta beim gleichen Projekt mit "nur" 560 Maschen gerissen, indem sich das Seil aus dem Gelenk gearbeitet hat.Sie musste dann gut 200 gefallene Maschen wieder auffangen .... Schaun wir mal, wie die Kollage Nadel sich macht!

This Kollage needle US#4 40" I brought with my from my stay in the US. It's a cubic needle with a very nice tip.
It's just undergoing the hardness test :) - nearly 900 stitches and 300 g yarn weight it has to bear. I'm knitting the final spurt of my Neptunia Shawl (a book project) with it, in Zitron Traumseide. A wooden needle can't stand this, it will break. Knitter's Pride Karbonz couldn't stand it either - Brigitta knitted the same project with them, with "just" 560 stitches, and the needle broke. The cable broke loose from the tip in the joint, and she had to catch more than 200 fallen stitches ..... Let's see, how this needle will manage the job!

Gewöhnungsbedürftig ist der sehr weiche Übergang zwischen Nadel und Seil. Man kann die Maschen nicht wie üblich auf die Nadel ziehen, sondern muss sie schieben. Dafür ist diese absolut ruckelfreie Verbindung von Seil und Nadel ohne starre Kupplung aber hervorragend für Magic Loop geeignet!

You have to get used to the transition from needle tip to cable. You can't pull the stitches onto the needle as with normal needles, but you have to shift them onto the needle. There is no stiff joint between tip and cable, everything is very smooth and without any resistance. Perfect for Magic Loop!

Obwohl die Nadel aus Metall ist, habe ich bisher keine Gelenkbeschwerden, und ich habe schon einige Stunden mit ihr gestrickt. Das kupferfarbene Metall fühlt sich warm und weich an. Bisher lässen sich die eingeätzten Größenangaben auch noch problemlos lesen.
Schaun wir mal, ob die Nadel das Projekt durchhält :)!

Though the needle is made of metal, I don't have any problems with my joints yet, after several hours of knitting with it! The copper colored metal feels warm and soft. The etched needle specifications can still be read without any problem. 
Let's see whether this needle will survive my project :)!

Garn fürs übernachste Projekt! Yarn for my second next project!

Für mein übernächstes Projekt (ja, immer noch die Fit for Fun - Reihe!) habe ich mir zwei traumhafte Garnqualitäten in 2 traumhaften Farben ausgesucht!

Ein und Alles 6fach in der Farbe Hermes und einem passenden Semisolid und das neue Lacegarn Yak-Seide in den gleichen Farben, beides von der Drachenwolle.

Mit der Ein und Alles 6fach gibt es endlich auch hier ein Garn mit ca. 300m /100g, meiner Lieblingslauflänge! Wie die Ein und Alles 4fach ist sie traumhaft weich und wunderbar zu verstricken.

My second next project will still be the Fit for Fun series. Look at the wonderful yarn I chose for it!
Ich got two different yarn qualities, both made by Drachenwolle: it's the 6ply Ein und Alles in color Hermes and a matching semisolid, and the new Yak-Silk lace yarn in the same colors.

The 6play Ein und Alles is the yarn I logend for :) - it has my favorite yarn thickness of about 300m/ 100g! It is as soft as the Ein und Alles 4ply, and it knits up so smoothly and beautifully.

Ich erzähl euch, was mein kleiner Drache dazu gesagt hat: "Guckt mal, das ist mein neuer Schal! Glaubst du wirklich, den gebe ich dir zurück??? Versuch ihn mir zu klauen, ich werde Feuer spucken!"

Sooooo weich, soooo schön, ich würde am liebsten sofort damit anfangen!!!

Das Fit for Fun Top muss jetzt erst einmal auf Wollnachschub warten :). Eine Seite des Vorderteils habe ich fertig, und das an Wolle habe ich noch ......
