Der Winter kann kommen - Winter may come

Passend zum Schal von letztens ist jetzt auch endlich die Mütze fertig – schwarz-rot auf besonderen Wunsch eines einzelnen jungen Mannes :).

I just finished the hat matching hat to the scarf I showed you some days ago. Both accessories are red and black, according to a special young man’s special wish :).

Ich habe die Mütze am Scheitel begonnen und Richtung Ohren gestrickt, den oberen Teil mit dem gleichen zweifarbigen Rippenmuster wie beim Schal. Für den rund geswingten Umschlag habe ich dann die Strickrichtung gewechselt.

I started the cap with the crown and knitted down tot he ears. The upper part is the two colored rib pattern of the scarf, then I changed the knitting direction and made the swing-knitted™ rim in the round.

 

Nein, passende Handschuhe wird es nicht geben – meine 2 x 150 g Sockenwolle 6fach (Zitron Trekking 6fach, Farben 1709 und 1716) sind aufgebraucht.

No, there will be no matching mittens – I used up both 150 g balls of 6ply sockyarn (Zitron Trekking 6ply, colors 1709 and 1716).

Bei diesem Projekt kam eine neue Stricknadel zum Einsatz – die neue KARBONZ von Knitpro, gekauft bei Jawolle.

With this project I used a new knitting needle – the new Karbonz by Knitpro, bought at Jawolle.

 

Nachdem die erste Karbonz wegen einer nicht sonderlich brauchbaren hakeligen Strickspitze durch Knitpro wieder vom Markt genommen worden war, sind jetzt die neuen, komplett anders gearbeiteten Karbon-Nadeln im Handel erhältlich.

Eine wunderschöne Nadel, die ihre Vor- und Nachteile hat:

The first Karbonz series was recalled from the market because the tip had a queer shape and didn’t work smoothly. Now the new Karbonz can be bought, they are completely differently made.

A beautiful knitting needle, having both pros and cons.

  

 Pro:

• Traumhaft schöne elegante Optik mit dunkelgrauem Karbon-Körper und hochglanzpolierter Metallspitze und Metallkupplung.
• Das Seil ist etwas dicker als bei den normalen Knitpro-Nadeln, trotzdem wunderbar flexibel und macht keine Probleme beim Magic Loop.
• Sanfter Übergang von der Kupplung zum Seil, der nicht hakt.
•  Lange, spitze Nadelspitze wie bei einer Lace-Nadel.
•  Liegt warm und weich in der Hand und zieht mir trotz Metallspitze nicht die Wärme aus der Hand (ich bin da als Rheumatiker sehr empfindlich und kann keine Metallnadeln stricken).
•  Trotz eines leicht fühlbaren Übergangs von den Metallteilen zum Karbonkörper haken die von mir ausprobierten Lace Garne (Filigran, Filisilk) dort nicht fest.
• Die eingeätzte Größenbezeichnung ist auch nach 750 verstrickten Metern noch voll lesbar. 
•  Die Karbonz gibt es als Nadelspiele, Jackennadeln und Rundnadeln in verschiedenen Längen von Nadelstärke 1,5 bis 3,5 mm.

• The needle is very beautiful with the dark grey carbon body and the shining high-polished metal tip and joint.
• Though the cable is a bit larger than the normal Knitpro cable, it is wonderfully smooth and flexible and works nicely with magic loop. 
• Very smooth joint that does not catch wool. 
•  Long and thin tip like a lace needle. 
• Feels warm and smooth in my hand and does not draw the warmth from my fingers despite the metal tip (I am a rheumatic and very sensitive and I cannot use metal circulars). 
• Though you can feel a slight groove between the carbon body and the metal parts, lace yarn does not catch there – I tried Zitron Filigran and Filisilk. 
• The needle size is etched and still readable after 750 knitted meters. 
•  Karbonz are available as double points, long needles and circulars from 1,5 to 3,5 mm.

 Con :

• Der doch recht hohe Anschaffungspreis (7,95 € für ein Nadelspiel, 9,50 € für die Rundnadeln).
• Knitpro scheint ziemliche Lieferschwierigkeiten zu haben, die Karbonz sind zwar auf dem Markt, aber kaum zu kriegen. 
• Sehr dünne Cobweb-Garne könnten an der leichten Furche zwischen Metall und Karbon haken – diesen Test habe ich noch nicht gemacht. 
• Die wunderschönen hochglanzpolierten Metallteile spiegeln, was das Stricken bei Lampenlicht schwierig macht und je nach Lichteinfall blendet. 
• Die extrem dunkle Nadel ist nur für helle Garne geeignet, für das Stricken dunkler Wolle braucht man einen Blindenhund :).

• Karbonz are quite expensive (7.95 € for a set of deouble points, 9.50 € for circulars).
• Though Karbonz are up for sale you can’t get them easily – Knitpro seems to have some trouble delivering them to the shops. 
• Very thin cobweb yarns may probably catch on the small gaps between tip and needle and needle and joint – I did not test it yet. 
• The beautiful high-polished metal parts reflect, that makes knitting in lamp light quite difficult and sometimes glares.T
• he needle is extremely dark and therefore only suitable for light colored yarns. To knit dark yarns you’ll need a seeing-eye dog :).
•
