Doe Waka auf Borkum - Doe Waka on Borkum

Mein nächstes Borkum-Gestrick: das Doe Waka Tuch fertigmachen!

Das Tuch kombiniert Swing-Stricken mit Fair Isle und wird eine der beiden Vorlagen für meinen Live-Kurs in Helmstedt.

Irgendwann später werde ich es sicherlich auch als eigene Anleitung veröffentlichen.

My next Borkum knit: finishing the Doe Waka wrap!

The wrap combines Swing-Knitting and Fair Isle, and it is one of my two patterns for the live class in Helmstedt. 

Some time later I will release it as a single pattern.

Passend zum Tuch habe ich dann gleich mal auf der Insel nach schönen Osterglocken gesucht - und die Osterglocken an der Promenade fast jeden Tag in ihrem Werden verfolgt. Leider fehlten 2 Tage Sonne, um sie völlig aufblühen zu lassen.

Matching the wrap, I looked for nice daffodils on the island - and I watched the daffodils on the mall nearly every day. There were just 2 more days missing for them to really bloom.

 

Wieder zu Hause, konnte ich das fertige Doe Waka waschen - und da hängt es jetzt und trocknet vor sich hin.
Das sind übrigens sämtliche Wäscheklassmern, die ich besitze :)!

Back home, I have washed the finished Doe Waka - and there it is, drying slowly.

Borkum Nachlese - Borkum gleanings

Ich liebe die Insel, bei (fast) jedem Wetter!

Hier seht ihr meine Mutter und mich mit unseren Thuya-Schals, die uns auf Borkum sehr gute Dienste geleistet haben.

I love the island, at (nearly) all kinds of weather!

Here you can see my Mom and me with our Thuya scarves. Those scarves served us so well on the Borkum island!

Mitgenommen hatte ich den Schal als knappen Meter - waren ja auch noch ein paar Tage Zeit bis zu Mutters Geburtstag :)!

Also war mein erstes Gestrick der Schal.


I had brought the scarf about 1 meter long - there were still a few days until Mom's birthday :)!

So my first knit was this scarf. 

 

 

Vom  Garn war nach knapp 2 Metern Schal noch einiges übrig, also gab es auch noch die passende Mütze. Und da Mutter ihre Gibson Girl Mütze heiß und innig liebt, habe ich versucht, etwas Ähnliches in Kombination mit Brioche dazu zu stricken.

Was ein Glück, dass Irish Fairytale Yarns mir noch ganz schnell einen weiteren Strang Inky Blue geschickt hatte - der kam am Samstag vor unserer Abfahrt noch an und wurde ganz schnell auf der Aussichtstribüne gewickelt!

There was still some yarn left when I had finished nearly 2 meters of scarf. So I started a matching hat. Mother loves her Gibson Girl hat, so I tried so knit something similar in combination with Brioche.

I was so lucky, Irish Fairytale Yarns had sent me one more skein of Inky Blue, and it really arrived 1 day before we left! So we wound it into a ball, sitting at the sea.

 

 

Nun gab's die passende Mütze, mit dem rest vom Aqua udn ausreichend Inky Blue!

Now I could knit a matching hat, with the leftovers of Aqua and enough Inky Blue!

 

Genau DAS war vom Grün übrig - und die letzten 20 Maschen der Rosette habe ich mit Blau abgekettet :)!

THESE were my green leftovers, and the last 20 stitches of the rosette I had to cast off with blue yarn :)!

Pünktlich zum Geburtstag war beides fertig, und Mutter hat sich riesig gefreut, denn von der Mütze wusste sie nichts, die hatte ich heimlich gestrickt! Nachts um 1 am Geburtstag war sie fertig geworden :).

Exactly on her birthday both pieces were finished, and my Mom was very happy! 
The hat she had not seen before, I knitted it secretly as a surprise, and on 1 a.m. on her birthday it was finished :).

Vorbereitungen - Preparations

Diese Woche habe ich richtig Gas gegeben, um den 3. Abschnitt des Hygge-Projekts fertig zu bekommen.
Denn heute werden die beiden Schals ordentlich verpackt, zusammen mit einem Vorrat an Garn für die nächsten beiden CAL-Wochen.

Der CAL macht mir einen Riesenspaß, und ich lerne dabei eine Menge Neues.

This week I really hurried to finish week 3 of the Hygge project. 
Today I'm going to pack up both Hygge scarves, together with a neat supply of yarn for the next two weeks' CAL portions. 

I really enjoy this CAL, and I'm learning quite a lot of new techniques.

So wünschen wir uns das - Frühling und Sonnenschein, draußen sitzen und stricken, die Seele baumeln lassen und genießen!

That's what we wish for: spring and sunshine, sitting outside and knitting, relaxing and enjoying!

Strickzeug nehme ich reichlich mit :) - schließlich will ich meine Helmstedt-Projekte in dieser Auszeit fertig bekommen, die unendliche Spirale und das Doe Waka Tuch.

There will be a lot of knitting in my suitcase :) - my plans are to finish my two Helmstedt projects, the eternal spiral and the Doe Waka shawl.

Vorher will aber noch der Thuya-Schal für meine Mutter fertig werden, passend zu ihrem neuen Anorak.

Wieder mit 6fach Sockenwolle, diesmal eine herrlich weiche Qualität, handgefärbt von Irish Fairytale Yarns.
Die Hälfte habe ich schon, und bis zu Mutters Geburtstag sind's ja noch ein paar Tage :) ...


But first I'll finish the Thuya scarf for my Mom, matching her new coat.

This one I knit with 6ply sock yarn as well, a wonderfully soft quality hand dyed by Irish Fairytale Yarns. 
Half of it is done, and there are still a few days left until my Mom's birthday :) ...
