Gruß aus Borkum - Greetings from Borkum

Eine Woche auf meiner Lieblingsinsel ist schon vorbei - Zeit, mal einen kleinen Zwischenbericht abzugeben!

Already one week of my stay on my favorite island is over - time to give you a short report!

Angekommen sind wir bei besten Winterwetter, die Nordsee war so vereist, dass der Katamaran nicht fahren konnte.

We arrived at best winter weather, the North Sea was so ica that the catamaran couldn`t swim.

Das Wetter hier ist durchwachsen - von winterlich eiskalt über Regen bis zu einigen Sonnenstunden.

The weather is pretty mediocre - from cold winter to rain and a few sunny hours.

Häkeln geht auch mit Stulpen - Stricken leider nicht :)!

Crocheting works fine with wristlets - knitting doesn't work :)!

Mein Summery Octagon wächst, und mit Teil 2 hae ich auch schon angefangen.

My Summery Octagon is growing, and I already started part 2.

Vom Jacarada ist Teil 6 fertig - und es macht immer noch einen Riesenspaß!

Jacaranda part 6 is finished - and still every stitch is pure fun!

Aber die meiste Zeit verbringe ich hiermit - die Spiralabschnitte für den Live-Kurs in Helmstedt.
Ich schreibe brav mit, für fortgeschrittene Swing-Stricker, die die Grundlagen der Technik beherrschen.

Und auf der großen Kamera sind schon mehr als 200 Step-Fotos.


Most of the time I spend with this project - the spirals for the live class in Helmstedt.
I take lots of notes, for advanced Swing-Knitters who hve mstered the basic technique.

And on my real camera there are already more than 200 step photos.

Teil 1 ist fertig, weiter geht's mit Teil 2.

Part 1 is finished, on we go with part 2.

Hoffentlich komme ich in den nächsten Tagen nicht so viel zum Stricken und kann stattdessen rausgehen und Sonne tanken!

I hope I won't be able to knit that much within in the next few days - I'd rather go out and enjoy the sun!

Vorbereitungen - Preparations

Am Montag geht's los - Mutter auf ihren Urlaub begleiten!
Und aufgrund der aktuellen Temperaturen habe ich mir aus den Resten vom Komet passende Stulpen und noch ein warmes Stirnband gestrickt.

On Monday we'll start - I'll accompany my Mom on her holidays!
And because of the weather and the current temperatures I made matching wristlets for my Komet shawl, and a warm headband.

Alles zusammen angezogen werdet ihr dann demnächst sehen!

Jetzt sind von den 8 50 g- Strängen nur noch insgesamt 53 g = ca. 190 m übrig - die bleiben erst einmal liegen, bis mir was für die einfällt!

Now only 53 g = approx. 190 m are left - they will stay until I'll have an idea for these leftovers!


Die Stulpen sind grob nach der Idee von Sybil Ra gestrickt, im Hebemaschenmuster des Schals, das Stirnband ist nur im Hebemaschenmuster - eine Anleitung gibt es für beides nicht.

The wristlets are knitted after the design idea of Sybil Ra, using the slip stitch pattern of the shawl, The headband is knitted in slip stitch pattern as well - there is no pattern for both. 

Gestern hab ich dann eine Strickprobe mit Klinta Nate gemacht - lässt sich prima mit 3,5er Nadeln kraus rechts stricken.

Yesterday I knitted a swatch with Klinta Nate - the yarn knits up well in garter stitch with 3.5 mm needles.

Aus diesem Garn werde ich die große Spiraljacke für den Live-Kurs in Helmstedt stricken - da steht vorher nur noch einiges an Wickelei an!
Gestrickt wird dann auf Borkum!

This is the yarn for the XXXXL spiral cardi for the live class in Helmstedt - but before I'll have to do quite a winding job!

Als "Unterwegs"- und "Nicht denken"-Werkstück kommt das mit - 2 bzw. 3 Scheepjes Whirls, die zu einer Tunika werden sollen.

My "on the road" and "mindless" work will be this - 2 or 3 Scheepjes Whirl that will become a tunic.

Eigentlich ist die gesamte Lilla Björn Sweater Tunika mindless, das war mir aber echt zu langweilig.
Und da ich das Wintery Octagon von Lilla Björn Crochet sowieso unbedingt häkeln wollte, setze ich das jetzt an den Anfang des Pullovers, der Rest wird schlicht nach der Anleitung (mehr oder weniger ...).

Bin gespannt, wie das wird!

The Lilla Björn Sweater is completely mindless, this was too boring for me.
And as I wanted to crochet the Wintery Octagon by Lilla Björn Crochet in any case, I put it into the center of the sweater, the remaining sweater will be according to the pattern (more or less ...). 

I am excited how it will look!

Melnessa live

Das war ein Riesenspaß, die beiden fertigen Melnessa Tuniken zu fotographieren!

Die Tunika ist das Werkstück für den Live-Kurs in Helmstedt "Swing komponieren und dirigieren" und dann später für einen neuen Swing-Stricken Kursbaustein für fortgeschrittene Swing-Stricker, die die Grundtechnik beherrschen.

The tunic is the knitted piece for the live class in Helmstedt "Composing and directing the swing", and later it will become a new Swing-Knitting workshop for advanced Swing-Knitters who have mastered the basic technique.

Der Name für die Tunika ist ganz witzig entstanden - ganz lange hatte sie keinen Namen, war "nameless". Und dann habe ich ein bisschen mit den Buchstaben NAMELESS gespielt, und dabei ist dann MELNESSA herausgekommen :)!

The name of the tunic has its story. For a long time the tunic had no name, was nameless. And then I played around with the letters of NAMELESS, and the result was MELNESSA :)!

Eine Reihe-für-Reihe Anleitung wird es dafür nicht geben, das geht einfach nicht. Jedes Material und jede Konfektionsgröße haben andere Maschenzahlen und wären eine eigene super lange Anleitung - und jede Größe müsste ich selbst mindestens zweimal stricken und dabei jede Masche zählen, dann müsste jede Größe einzeln in den Teststrick ...

Die Anleitung für fortgeschrittene Swing-Stricker wird eine Art "Rezept" sein, wie man die Swing-Strophen selbständig berechnen kann. Sie wird natürlich auch den Aufbau der Tunika und alle dafür notwendigen Berechnungen ausführlich erklären. Ich bin dabei, diese Anleitung für Helmstedt zu schreiben, das sind schon massig viel Seiten bis jetzt :), und fertig damit bin ich noch lange nicht.

There will be no row-by-row instructions for the tunic, this isn't possible. Everyone will have different stitch numbers because of different sizes and materials, and every size would be its own veryx long pattern - and every size I myself would have to knit at least twice, counting every stitch, then making test knits for every size ...

The pattern for advanced Swing-Knitters will be a kind of "recipe" how you can calculate your own swing stanzas. And it will explain the schematics and all calculations that you need in great detail. I'm on my way to write these instructions for Helmstedt, and it's already quite a large number of pages :), and I'm not finished yet for quite some pages.

Ich bin so froh, dass ich die Fotos der beiden fertigen Tuniken schon habe - und der "Rest" wird bis Helmstedt auch fertig sein :)!
