Mein geniales Wochenende - My genial weekend

Jawoll, ich hab es endlich wahr gemacht!
Heidrun spinnt nicht nur, jetzt dreht sie auch am Rad :)!

Yes, I finally did it!
Now Heidrun doesn't only spin, she also turns th wheel (that's a crude translation, I know - the German term are not only ambiguous, they have a real meaning like "she is not only crazy, she is more than crazy")

Das alles fing damit an, dass ich am Freitagmorgen die von Leonie Hasenauer genial gefärbten Kammzüge sah (und bekuschelte) und im Brustton der Überzeugung sagte: "NEIN, damit fang ich jetzt nicht auch noch an, wann soll ich das denn noch machen!"

It all started with me seeing (and cuddling) the rowings so wonderfully handpainted by Leonie. Then I said, really with utter conviction "No, I won't start spinning now, when will I have the time to do that as well!"

Tja, und dann baute Anne vom Wollwerkraum  die von ihr mitgebrachte Herde auf - 7 traumhaft schöne Spinnräder!

Ein bisschen Probetreten musste ich ja gleich ...

And then Anne Wollwerkraum  of assembled the little herd she had brought with her - 7 beautiful spinning wheels! 
I certainly had to try a little treddling ...

Schockverliebt - das ist Polly!

Die wird mit den Zehen getreten (siehe nächstes Foto), und dabei macht es gar nichts, dass mein rechtes Bein manchmal nicht so will wie ich!

She is treddled by your toes only (see next photo), and she doesn't mind that my right foot sometimes doesn't work the way I want it!

Erster Versuch - aus Eiderwolle einen Strang Paketschnur gesponnen :) - viel zu heftig getreten und zu langsam ausgezogen!

Zweiter Versuch - schon besser, und dann auch gleich verzwirnt!

Das war Freitag mittag ....


First try - made a hank of parcel string :) - I treddled too much and fed too slow!

Second try - a lot better, and I already plied the yarn!

This was Friday noon ...

Der Freitagnachmittag verging wie im Fluge, und die ersten beiden Spulen waren verzwirnt!
Mein allererstes richtiges Garn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Friday afternoon just flew by, and the first two spools were plied!
My first real yarn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Habe ich euch schon genug von Leonies Kammzügen vorgeschwärmt?

Da musste dann einer her, der nicht mit auf dem Bild ist, aber dem oben links sehr ähnlich ist ...

I HAD to have one, one that isn't on the picture but very similar to the one on the upper left side ...

Am Samstagmorgen habe ich dann einen tollen Schnupperkurs in die Technik des Swing-Strickens gegeben.

Die 5 Teilnehmerinnen waren klasse - Mädels, es hat richtig Spaß mit euch gtemacht!

Einziger Wehrmutstropfen - 2 verbindliche Anmeldungen sind leider nicht erschienen,. und die 2 "Vielleichts" haben es nicht für nötig gehalten, wenigstens abzusagen .....
So habe ich noch mehr mitgeschleppt als nötig, das ich dann auch wieder zurückschleppen durfte .....
Fazit: Nur noch Vorkasse ...

On Saturday morning I taught a wonderful Swing-Knitter Taster Class.

The 5 students were wonderful - girls, it was great fun teaching you!

Just a drop of bitterness - 2 students who jhad firmly booked the class didn't come, and the 2 "perhaps"-participants didn't even tell me that they were no longer interested ...
So I carried a lot more of books and stuff than I had needed, and I could also carry it back ...
Conclusion: Only advance payment int he future ...

Da entstehen tolle Loops und Stulpen - ich freu mich schon auf die weiteren Bilder!

The WIPs are beautiful - I'm looking forward to photos of pretty cowls and wristlets!

Samstag Nachmittag - da hatte ich eine Verabredung mit Polly und einem grün-blauen Kammzug :)!
Und bis zum Abend war die erste Spule richtig voll!


Saturday afternoon - my date with Polly and the blue-green rowing :)!
And in the evening the first spool was really full!

 

Sonntagmorgen - die zweite Spule - Mensch, das geht ja wirklich schon schneller und besser! Sunday morning - the second spool - I really become faster and better by training!

Sonntag nachmittags: Ich zwirne!

Sunday afternoon: I'm plying!

40 Gramm weißes und 160 Gramm blaugrünes Garn - frisch gewaschen hängen sie jetzt da und trocknen!                               40 grams of white and 160 grams of grenn-blue yarn - freshly bathed they are drying now!       

Teil 1 meines diesjährigen Weihnachtsgeschenks an mich hab ich schon hier :) - und Teil 2 ist bestellt - ich kriege meine eigene Polly!!!!!!

Part 1 of this year's Christmas present to me I've already got here (see photo above) - and part 2 is already ordered - I'll get my very own Polly!!!!!!
